Because our curriculum is Christ-centered and our activities relate to God’s Word, holidays will be observed with this in mind. In particular, the following holidays will be observed as follows:
Halloween – Our focus is harvest and thanking God for His bounty.
Thanksgiving – Our focus is the Thanksgiving feast and thanking God for His provisions and blessings.
Christmas – Our focus is on celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
Easter – Our focus is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Halloween costumes, Santa Claus, and the Easter Bunny do not play a part in our curriculum. Please understand that we do not teach against these secular traditions, but that our emphasis at the school is scriptural.

INCLEMENT WEATHER/CLOSINGS
In the case of severe weather conditions, SJDS will close, delay opening, or close early, depending on what the public schools do. If the public schools are not in session (Christmas break for example), we will make a decision based on the safety of our teachers, students, and families.
The best and quickest way to find out about closures and/or delays is the following:
Brightwheel
Generally, if the public schools are delayed two hours, our opening time will be 9:00 a.m. If the public schools are closed or close early, we will do the same.
